Historical Note
In August 1888, His Majesty King Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama V) graciously visited Koh Phangan during his southern voyage. At Ban Thong Nang, His Majesty inscribed the royal emblem “Chor Por Ror (จปร.)” on a cliffside rock—an enduring symbol of his presence. This royal visit, remembered as part of his humble “Phra Phutthachao Luang Prachathipatai” journey, reflects his closeness to the people. Today, the annual ceremony honors both the historic visit and His Majesty’s lasting legacy.
